WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

6:00-8:30pm – Opening event: Dinner + Fishbowl discussion of Detroit organizations

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

Thursday is devoted to skillshares on topics suggested by member organizations. A skillshare is NOT a presentation or panel; it is a collaborative, mutualistic sharing of knowledge and material. There will be several extra classrooms for emergent skillshares if you would like to propose one and others are interested in participating. If you have materials to share for any of the topics listed or for a topic you plan to propose, please bring them.

9:00-10:00am – Breakfast (60 minutes)

10:00-11:30am – Discussion and skillshare breakout #1 (90 minutes)

  • Tenant organizing
  • Creating a popular assembly
  • Building local food systems
  • Participatory budgeting
  • Energy democracy and energy transition
  • Decolonizing Our Values seminar
  • Additional emergent skillshares as proposed

11:30am-1:00pm – Lunch (90 minutes)

1:00-5:00pm – Option 1: Tour of Detroit’s East Side hosted by the James and Grace Lee Boggs Center

1:00-5:00pm – Option 2: Discussion and skillshare breakout #2, followed by free time

  • Mutual aid disaster relief
  • Community alternatives to policing and prison resistance
  • Relation to the municipality (city council, administration)
  • Oppositional politics and active resistance
  • Transformative conflict resolution
  • Additional emergent skillshares as proposed

5:00-6:30pm – Opening Plenary and Discussion (90 minutes)

6:30-8:00pm – Dinner (90 minutes)

8:00pm onward – Relationship building! Including icebreakers, cooperative board games, and a socialist film screening

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are devoted to breakouts and assemblies focused on democratically determining how we will relate to one another going forward, including Points of Unity, Ongoing Decision Making Structure, Common Platform & Collective Visibility, Internal Communications, and our Political Education Program. 

9:00-10:00am – Breakfast (60 minutes)

10:00-11:00am – Breakout One (60 minutes)

11:15-12:45pm – Assembly One (90 minutes)

1:15-2:15pm – Lunch (60 minutes)

2:15-3:15pm – Breakout Two (60 minutes)

3:30-5:00pm – Assembly Two (90 minutes)

5:00-6:00pm – Global climate strike solidarity open mic & march on campus (60 minutes)

6:30-7:30pm – Dinner (60 minutes)

7:30pm onward – Music-sharing + social time

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21

9:00-10:00am – Breakfast (60 minutes)

10:00-11:00am – Breakout Three (60 minutes)

11:15-12:45am – Assembly Three (90 minutes)

1:15-2:15pm – Lunch (60 minutes)
